Travel Highlights

March 30 to April 5 – Costa Rica

Sharing the world with others is why I do what I do.  Leading students is such a pleasure as they look at the world with open hearts and open minds.  Mark Twain once said,  “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.”  This is so true.  I learned so much about the people and country Costa Rica on my first visit there in 2015 and I can’t wait to get back. The last time I went was back in 2015 and here is the photo album from that trip.

April 8 to April 27 – Harr Travel Tulip Time Cruise with Avalon Waterways

River cruising is one of my favorite ways to travel and it is definitely the most comfortable way to get through the heart of Europe . I will be leading 29  passengers on this 14 night cruise aboard the brand new Avalon Passion.  This is one of Avalon’s newest Panorama Suite Ships and of course shiny and new is always nice!  We will be spending time before the cruise in one of my favorite cities in the world, Amsterdam.   My parents and our close family friends the Lanes will both be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary.  We will be seeing the gorgeous tulips in Amsterdam, the stunning castles of the Rhine river and finish by sailing past the iconic Hungarian Parliament building in Budapest.

April 27 to May 2 – Normandy Harr Travel Journey

After the Avalon river cruise I will be escorting a small group on to Normandy.  There are events in the history of the world that truly changed the course of humanity and D-Day was one of those events.  I was lucky enough to visit the Normandy region with my father Randy and my Grandpa Leal back in 2004 for the 60th anniversary of D-Day.  My grandfather opened up to us and we heard 60 year old stories for the first time.  I feel honored to share this same experience with my travel family.  We will explore the beaches, museums and cemeteries, where we will pay tribute to those who gave their last full measure to make sure that those at home would remain safe and free.

May 15 to May 20 – GTM West

Global Travel Marketplace is one of the most exclusive travel industry invites of the year. The organizers describe this event as an “elite appointment-only event connects the most influential travel advisers in North America with global travel suppliers in a powerhouse face-to-face meetings and exclusive boardroom sessions.” I was truly impressed with this event last year and I am so honored to have been invited back as an ambassador.

Ambassadors are a very select group, chosen for their ability to grow and expand their travel business as a result of their first-time participation in GTM West .  Only 20 percent of accepted attendees are chosen to participate as Ambassadors and they are selected after a rigorous screening process, which evaluates their business model, confirms annual sales and requires industry references.  These events are where the connections are made that allow me to offer my clients the best products with unique insider access.

June 9 to June 19 – Crystal Cruises – Pacific Coast Vistas

Crystal Cruises is one of the first names that comes to mind when thinking of ultra luxury cruising.  Nobody in the industry is investing in their brand like Crystal is.  This is my first time sailing Crystal with my family and I can’t wait.  Of all of the travels listed here, this is one of two that are my vacation.  Leading travelers around the world is something that I love doing, but its not quite the same as enjoying an incredible cruise product, with just my beautiful wife Kristen and our incredible little Ava Jane.

We needed to get from Southern California to the Pacific Northwest for my Harr Travel Alaska Adventure in July, so we figured this 10 day re-positioning cruise would be perfect.  If you have the time, re-positioning cruises can be a cost effective and VERY enjoyable way to avoid a flight.  Trains can do this as well.  I am really looking forward to the food, especially the Nobu restaurant onboard, Silk Road.

June 19 to July 3 – Holland America – Great Alaskan Explorer

Since the Crystal cruise finishes in Seattle and our Harr Travel Alaska Family Cruise that I am leading does not start for two weeks, we decided to add another cruise in there. I asked Kristen what she wanted to do. Fly back home? No. A nice hotel in Seattle? No. Her exact words were, “Put me and Ava Jane on a cruise.” So as they say, “Happy Wife, Happy Life” so the Genungs are going to be going to Alaska on Holland America before we go to Alaska again the next cruise. With our Holland America sales up almost 500% from 2015 I really wanted to spend some time on their product.  This will be my first time on one of their smallest ships and I am really excited.

July 6 to July 14 – Harr Travel Alaska Adventure

Alaska!  There is no better place in the world to experience adventure, wildlife, glaciers, education and fun.  Cruising is the ideal way to experience Americas Last Frontier and enjoy its unmatched pristine beauty.  This Harr Travel Signature journey package includes everything you would want for a week in Alaska.  Dog Sledding, a foodie tour of Pike Place Market, ice skating onboard the ship and so much more.  I love Alaska and I can’t wait to get back.

The Explorer of the Seas is a ship that is close to my heart.  It was the ship that got me really, really excited about cruising.  When I was in high school, I begged my parents to take me and my brother.  We loved it!  This will be my 6th time on the Explorer of the Seas and I can’t wait to see all of the improvements since her last dry dock.  The Explorer is the perfect fit for adventurers of all ages.  With a massive Adventure Ocean kids center, there are countless activities for kids of each age group including rock climbing, ice-skating and surfing.  With several incredible specialty restaurants, bars and lounges, there is something for mom and dad as well.

July 19 to August 1 – Harr Travel Azamara British Isles

The British Isles, the final round of The Open Championship, 6 custom small group excursions and the luxury of Azamara…YES PLEASE!  I am most excited that I am visiting several places for the first time AND getting to check out the British open.  I love everything about Azamara and this will be my 7th journey with them and Ava Jane’s first.  Top notch service, everything included (alcohol and laundry!) and amazing food, what’s not to like?

August 4 to August 12 – Queen Mary 2 Transatlantic

It still seems odd to me that I won’t be returning to the classroom after a summer of amazing travel.  I am so happy with my decision to make the world my classroom and share it you.  Having more flexibility has also presented me with some opportunities that were never possible before; such as this chance to cross the Atlantic with my dad and Ava Jane.  Yes, you heard that right, grandpa, Danny and Ava Jane are heading across the Atlantic on the newly renovated Queen Mary 2.

Simply put, I would much rather cruise across the ocean on the most famous ocean liner in the world than fly.  For those with the time, this is a great way to get to or from Europe.  In fact, two of my clients will be onboard this sailing capping off 50 days of back to back to back to back cruising that starts with an eastbound transatlantic on Oceania and finishes with this westbound transatlantic on the Queen Mary 2.  This is one more bucket list item that I get to check off.  I have been dreaming about sailing on her since she was built in 2003 and now is the perfect time as she just finished a $132 Million dollar renovation and is in better shape than ever.

September 15 to September 20 – CoNexion 2017

One of the highlights of my year is getting to meet all of the travel executives. Last year I was able to pitch a couple ideas Shark Tank style to the executives of Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Norwegian just to name a few. Here is a picture of me doing that pitch. I hope this year it will be a blast. I know it will because it is in the Big Easy. Shout out to my travel friends Chad and Teresa Shields who will be taking me around New Orleans because no one knows that area better than them.

October 6 to October 11 – California Wine Country Tour

I have never been wine tasting in Napa Valley.  I am going to confess.  But I want to, so here we go!  California is something beautiful.  I have literally been around the world quite a few times, but there is no place like home.  I for one take my state for granted: The wonderful Sierras, Lake Tahoe, the Golden Gate Bridge, Yosemite, San Francisco, Napa, Sonoma. This is a working research and development trip, though I have a suspicion I am going to enjoy it quite a bit.

November 18 to November 25 – ThanksCruising

This will be our families 6th Thanksgiving cruise.  To say we love it is a bit of an understatement.  We get to spend the week with every meal prepared for me, my room cleaned twice daily, music and entertainment all around and 10 NFL games on the giant Movies Under the Stars screen.  What’s not to like?

December 3 to December 5 – Nexion President’s Circle

This is my second year selling travel full time and my third consecutive year qualifying for my companies top honor, the Circle of Excellence.  This trip is a celebration and they spoil us!  Great food, entertainment and people make this my favorite 3 days of the year.  Two years ago was Hawaii and last year was Cancun…where will this year be?
